Paint Correction in Gulfport, MS
Paint correction is the machine polishing process that removes defects from your vehicle's clear coat — swirls, light scratches, oxidation, and etched water spots — by leveling a microscopic layer of the clear coat itself. It doesn't fill or hide defects the way a glaze does; the defects are gone. It's the single biggest visual transformation a detailer can perform, and it's the required foundation under any ceramic coating worth paying for.
What paint correction removes
- Swirl marks — the spider-webbing visible in direct sun, mostly from automatic washes and dry wiping
- Light scratches & scuffs — from brushes, branches, and everyday contact
- Oxidation — the chalky, faded look Gulf Coast sun burns into unprotected paint
- Hard water spots — mineral etching from sprinklers and well water, a constant on the Coast
- Bird and bug etching — love bug splatter left baking on a hood will etch; caught in time, it polishes out
Correction options & prices
Gloss Enhancement — one-step correction
$300 standalone · $250 with a coating
A single machine-polishing step that removes light swirls and oxidation and restores depth and gloss. The right call for newer vehicles and daily drivers in decent shape — and the minimum prep we'd put a coating over.
Two-Step Correction
$1,250
A dedicated compounding step to cut heavier defects, followed by a refining polish to finish the surface down. For neglected paint, darker colors that show everything, and vehicles being prepared for a long-term coating.
There is no in-between pricing, and which level your paint needs is decided by inspecting it under proper lighting with you — not over the phone. Some very severe cases work in stages over multiple days, letting the paint rest between steps; we'll tell you plainly if yours is one of them.
What's included
- Decontamination wash — foam wash, iron removal, and clay treatment so polishing works on paint, not on grit.
- Paint inspection — defects mapped under inspection lighting; correction level confirmed with you.
- Machine compounding & polishing — the correction itself, panel by panel.
- Final wipe-down & protection — finished with a hand-applied sealant, or straight into a ceramic coating if you've chosen one.
Correction or coating first?
Correction always comes first. A coating applied over swirled paint seals the swirls in for the life of the coating — years of looking at the same defects under a glossy, expensive layer. Corrected paint, by contrast, is what makes a coated vehicle look like the ones in the photos. If budget forces a choice, correct now and coat later; the correction is the transformation. And once paint is corrected, a maintenance plan and proper washing are what keep it from swirling right back.
How long does paint correction take?
A one-step Gloss Enhancement typically takes a day. Two-Step Correction runs 1–2 days on most vehicles, and severe cases can take 3–5 days working in stages.
Will correction remove every scratch?
If you can catch a scratch with a fingernail, it's usually through the clear coat and can't be fully polished out — we'll show you exactly which defects will come out and which will only improve, before you pay for anything.
Does correction thin my clear coat?
Yes, by a microscopic, measured amount — that's literally how it works. It's performed conservatively, and it's why correction should be done by someone who understands paint systems rather than burned through by an aggressive buffer.
Do I need a coating after correction?
You need some protection after correction — at minimum a sealant, which is included. A ceramic coating is the durable option and the one most correction customers choose.
